American copy of the famous british detective TV-series named "Gracepoint" was on air just a month ago. And now the second season of the original "Broadchurch" at last appeared on the british television and began to shock us with new intriguing story.
Actually, "Broadchurch" is a phenomenon in the detective genre of TV-shows. It has very strong script, based on the psycology and sociology of the closed town society. People don't trust each other and suspect their closest friends in the murder that lies in the centre of storyline. Main character is a detective that has a problem with his mind because of his last work in another town. At the backstage every living soul in Broadchurch has some secrets that resurfacing during the movement of the story. While trying to reveal the truth Alec Hurdy faces the problem of a husband treason, alcoholism, mysterious and dangerous past of some citizens.
It's impossible to name a murderer all the time you're watching "Broadchurch". Every episode makes you suspect more and more "heroes" of this town drama and in the end you are totally confused by an answer to this complicated riddle. Script represents something average between clever stories of Agatha Cristie and psycological dramas of Edgar Poe, so watching turns into unexpected and exciting journey.
Actors that starring in the main roles are stars of the british television. Here is the famous tenth "Doctor" David Tennant, his friend Arthur Darvill (Rory in the "Doctor Who") and Olivia Colman ("Tyrannosaurus", "Cuban Fury" and others). They are playing so good that you believe every second of appearance Alec Hardy or Ellie Miller at the screen. Actually, I started watching "Broadchurch" only because of David Tennant.
In the end I wanna speak about godlike (yes, certainly godlike) soundtrack written by Olafur Arnalds. Main theme that plays in the titles named "So close" makes you feel some discomfort and sorrow for the faith of a murdered boy and other citizens of the town. This is the reverse side of "Broadchurch". Yes, it is interesting to watch over Alec Hurdy tries to reveal the truth, but it's also painful to realize what a dramatic situation arised in "Broadchurch". In this small quiet town on the south of England.
