Yeah, my first article is about famous british masterpiece of television industry. Sherlock has appeared on the british TV in 2010 and in short time has become one of the most popular TV-series in the world. At russian movie-rater, like american IMDb, Sherlock is on the first places in TOP.
But what is the secret of success? People are often asking me this question, because they were ambushed by an unusual idea of Sherlock. Yes, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss made pretty impossible and funny thing. They brought Victorian Age heroes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in our difficult modern times. "It's a joke?" Surely not. In fact, screenwriters found the golden ideal of TV-series. Powerful book stories, modified by a creative men, thrown into a cruel reality of XXI century.
But the idea is not the only impressive thing here. I like british "school of actors". Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, Timothy Dalton, Dylan Moran, David Tennant, Karen Gillan and many others... Oh, and sure my favorite Martin Freeman. Yes, he's starring John Watson in Sherlock and his character closer to me than, for example, Vitaliy Solomin's Watson in the old russian TV-series. Modern John is a little bit more sentimental and it shows at Martin's face every second. Modern Sherlock is very different too. He uses nicotine patches instead of cigarettes or pipe. He is more cruel to the other people's feelings, but it's making his life more comfortable in the modern world. Benedict Cumberbatch has a huge talant and it can be seen not only in this role, but in many others, so some people have to see Sherlock just because of this very professional play of a main character. Also, a lot of transformations appeared in the main antagonist James Moriarty. He is more funny and unexpectedly mad, as for me. All the confrontation between him and Sherlock in TV-series looks very exciting.
One of the most valuable things in Sherlock is music. BBC Orchestra made catching themes that don't yield to the famous music from elder russian "Sherlock Holmes". My favorite is "Irene's Theme" maybe because I fell in love with the Irene Adler character, but this is the other story:)
In my opinion, modern Sherlock is a powerful and intriguing part of new television era. It has very big fandom, many people every year wait for the new episodes of their favorite TV-show and I am too. If you haven't seen Sherlock yet, then do it! It will be the most lovely 13,5 hours in your life:)

Music - 10/10
Stage direction - 8/10
